Organizations We’ve Helped

Awaken

Awaken began serving victims of sex trafficking in 2011. Awaken was the first nonprofit in the northern Nevada dedicated to this newly identified, underserved population. In 2020 Awaken expanded its youth programming by opening the Awaken Educational Center (AEC). The AEC is a specialized holistic, educational and restorative school experience for youth who have been trafficked and includes therapeutic opportunities for students. Awaken aspires to be one step in that re-entry process providing victims with the onsite support of tutors, mentors, therapists, and case managers to create a trauma-informed, holistic, educational experience.

With the support from the Redeeming Love Foundation, Awaken will be able to offer additional support to trafficked teens during their educational experience. In additional to their educational needs, the funding would allow for Awaken to host field trips, weekly rock climbing, hiking in Tahoe, put on a prom, host a graduation, and pay for GED testing fees, college application fees and any other expenses that come up during their educational experience at Awaken.

Last year, we celebrated one senior graduate high school while studying at the AEC. She offered to share her testimony of how she went from victim to survivor to thriver. You can read that here.

Our work last year with teens who have been trafficked showed us just how necessary it is to provide these kids with educational opportunities AND support them to have childhood experiences they deserved to have. The $10,000 from the Redeeming Love  Foundation will now ensure that they have these experiences.

Children of the Night

“Victims of sex trafficking didn’t have parents or familial support to help them when they were recruited for sex trafficking, nor do they have that support after rescue and stabilization provided by countless organizations dedicated to helping them.

“Redeeming Love Foundation answers the cries of survivors of sex trafficking. No overhead, no bureaucracy, simply financial assistance for those who have survived a horrid childhood and circumstance.

“Successful adult lives may only be achieved with long term, unconditional support.

“Redeeming Love Foundation provides that support and can make the difference between recovery and recidivism.”
